FMDA Introduces Long-Term Care Awards
West Palm Beach, Fla. --
Florida Medical Directors Association (FMDA) President Carl Suchar, DO, CMD, and Selection Committee Chairman John Potomski, DO, CMD, are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for FMDA’s 2007 Careers in Long-Term Care Award Program. Formerly known as FMDA’s Futures Program, participants chosen for the program will receive numerous benefits, including a one-time educational grant of $1,000 and complimentary registration to the “Best Care Practices in the Post-Acute & Long-Term Care Continuum Conference 2007,” October 26-28, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Orlando.
“We are very excited about our Careers in Long-Term Care Program,” said Suchar. “It provides an opportunity for up-and-coming physicians to share research results, best practices, and outcomes with their colleagues at our ‘Best Care Practices Conference’ in Orlando.”
The Careers in Long-Term Care Award Program is open to all residents and fellows who are in geriatrics, family practice, and internal medicine and who are interested in practicing in long-term care and geriatrics. Recipients are required to present scientific posters on any aspect of the following categories in any long-term care setting: clinical care, pharmacology of medicine, medical education, history of medicine, medical direction, medical care delivery, medical ethics, or economics of medicine.
“We encourage those interested in long-term care and geriatrics to participate in this unique program designed to promote professional development of aspiring physicians and ultimately enhance the quality of life for Florida’s seniors,” said
Potomski.
Applicants may submit an online application at www.fmda.org. The Careers in Long-Term Care Award Selection Committee will rank each applicant according to his or her essay, poster submission, and credentials. The application deadline is Aug. 31, 2007.
